How Vedana Began

Once a Family Home, Now a Place of Healing

Before Vedana became a space for healing, it was a family home. Arrut’s grandparents purchased the land in 1952, and for over sixty years, it has held memories—from the days when Thonglor was still rice paddies, buffalo, and klongs. Given to him by his grandparents, Arrut helped transform the land into a sanctuary for the Thai community—honoring their legacy and creating something in service of the greater good.

From Wounded to Founders

Annie was born into a traditional Thai-Chinese family where mental health was not recognized, and her depression was viewed as a weakness rather than a response to unmet needs or trauma. Her dysfunctional upbringing—where monetary value was prioritized over emotional well-being—led her to accept mistreatment in relationships, picking abusive partners who mirrored the emotional neglect she had once experienced in her household. Drug abuse became a normalized part of her life—a coping mechanism to soothe herself. After enduring a series of toxic relationships and experiencing physical symptoms like fainting caused by accumulated trauma, she embarked on a transformative spiritual journey—one aimed at attracting healthier relationships and building a better life. Along the way, she shed old identities and lost friends who once felt like family. Without a supportive community to guide her, the process was often confusing, lonely, and disorienting. Her desire to heal eventually led her to meet Arrut in Koh Phangan, who introduced her to Reiki—a form of energy healing.  Having someone to talk to about healing made the journey feel less isolating, and with Arrut by her side, Annie began to feel less alone and more grounded in the vision for her life she was creating.

A Place for Friends and Family

Vedana began in 2023 as a space for Annie and Arrut to share the lifestyle practices they loved—like ice baths—with friends and family. Initially, they planned to use the land for a simple space rental business, but a trip to Kamalaya Wellness Sanctuary in Koh Samui, where they met the founders—a couple much like themselves—inspired a new vision. That encounter sparked the idea to expand the land into a healing community in the heart of Bangkok.

Although they invited Kamalaya to open a branch on their land in Bangkok, the proposal was declined. That is when Annie and Arrut thought, “Why not do it ourselves?” Arrut had already inherited the land from his mother, and the space was there.

Despite having the idea, Annie was held back by self-doubt and limiting beliefs, unsure if she was good enough or capable of running a business. However, inspired by Kamalaya’s vision, she and Arrut moved forward with the idea. They turned down lucrative offers and committed to using the land exclusively for wellness vendors—a decision that ultimately shaped Vedana into the strong, intentional community it is today.

Before it was a swimming pool, it was a river where Arrut’s mother used to swim. Even after the pool was converted into a grass field ten years ago, the land continues to carry the feminine, nurturing energy of the water spirit ࿐

Vedana was founded on March 9th, 2024, by Annie and Arrut.  Once with little sense of self and inability to make even the smallest decisions—like choosing the color of her MacBook without seeking her friends’ input—Annie is now a hypnotherapist specializing in Past Life Regression. She also works with raising the vibration of water (Ocean Spirit). Leading Vedana has become a transformative training ground for Annie to strengthen her inner power and truth.

Arrut works on raising the vibration of the soil (Mother Earth) through TOCA and his innovations, such as ShooShoke. They want to share their passion and lifestyle of holistic health in Bangkok.  Vedana is a healing alchemy—a blend of physical wellness, organic nourishment, and energy work across mental and spiritual realms. Their vision is to build a like-minded community that serves as a sanctuary amidst the chaos and bustle of Bangkok. Vedana is that sacred space where spiritual journeys unfold, and magical moments lead to deeper self-discovery.

Arrut has always been interested in holistic health. Over fifteen years of working with organic farmers taught him that life is cyclical and deeply interconnected—a stark contrast to his earlier corporate experience, where his work was compartmentalized. While he cared for his physical health through yoga and a balanced diet, he lacked the tools for inner work. And despite being praised for his contributions to organic farming through the Thai Organic Consumer Association (TOCA), he continued to feel hollow and directionless. Arrut’s spiritual journey began when he met Annie. Their relationship prompted him to look inward and develop self-awareness. After decades of living without boundaries—unable to say something as simple as “No,” numbing himself with drugs, and surrounding himself with others doing the same—Arrut realized he had been living a life of suppression. Lacking real self-love, he had lived disconnected from his inner voice, even marrying when he did not want to. Through his relationship with Annie, Arrut began to feel again and discovered what it truly meant to love himself—beyond simply caring for his physical health.

The beginning of Annie and Arnut’s relationship was turbulent…

Arrut believes that for two people to be truly together, they must walk the spiritual journey side by side. When only one person is evolving, the relationship naturally falls out of alignment. In those early days, he and Annie often mirrored each other’s lack of self-awareness.

Together, they:

  • felt to heal

  • let go of substances

  • learned about their traumas

  • self-examined -` 🪞´-

  • worked on their egos and shadows

  • forgave themselves for past mistakes

  • bit by bit, rebuilt self-trust

  • practiced authenticity

  • began to believe in themselves ☆

Souls Who Have Found Their Way to Vedana

I can’t express enough how much I adore this space. It is a true sanctuary of peace, surrounded by lush greenery that creates an atmosphere of tranquility. Sharing my experiences, knowledge, and positive energy in such a beautiful setting has been an incredibly rewarding journey. This place not only nurtures your body but also nourishes your soul, making it the perfect retreat for anyone seeking tranquility and mindfulness.

For me, Vedana is more than just a location. It is a refuge, a home amidst the chaos of city life.

Be among others who are also on their spiritual journey…

I found Vedana at a time when I felt lost. It gave me the space to slow down, reflect, and face the things I didn’t want to or didn’t know how to. What made it special was the people — they made me feel safe and supported, without trying to change or fix me.
